My Journey
My path in education has been anything but linear. From teaching high school students in South Korea to shaping national policy for at-risk youth, from directing curriculum innovation at universities to now focusing on senior adult learners in the United States, each chapter has deepened my understanding of what it means to truly serve learners.
What began as a passion for educational equity has evolved into a mission: ensuring that no one is left behind in our rapidly digitalizing world. I believe the best curricula are built with both rigor and heart grounded in research, yet always centered on the human being.
Driven by Purpose
In an era of 100-year lifespans, education must evolve to serve learners at every stage of life. My current research focuses on the neurological and pedagogical dimensions of learning in later adulthood, developing teaching methods that honor how older adults think, process, and grow.
The digital divide is not just a technology problem; it's a human dignity problem. When seniors can't access telehealth, connect with family online, or navigate everyday digital tasks, they lose more than convenience, they lose connection.

Beyond Research
I'm also a children's book author. Through my stories, I try to share the values of diversity and inclusion in a way that feels warm and easy for children to understand. My research and my writing grow from the same hope: a world where people of different cultures and backgrounds can understand one another a little better. I like to think of my books as a window into new worlds for children, and a quiet reminder for adults of what community and coexistence can mean.
Music is another way I create. I love composing K-pop songs, and I send my demos out whenever I finish one. None have found an audience yet, but I keep writing, holding onto the dream that one of my songs will someday reach listeners far away. Where research and writing engage my mind, music lets me express something else entirely.
Sharing Korean Culture
I'm also a certified Korean language instructor, holding a Korean Language Teacher Certification issued by the Korean government, which qualifies me to teach Korean to learners around the world, most of it offered as volunteer work. Introducing the language, traditions, and culture of my home country is one of my great joys, and a small way of building understanding, respect, and connection among people from different backgrounds.
